Garmin Training Center

It is painfully obvious that Garmin wants to discontinue Garmin Training Center. Before they do, however, they need to add two features that will make all users willing to make the switch to Garmin Connect.

1) Create a better organization system for activities. I have had a Garmin device for over two years now. During this time, I have 181 activities that I want to share i.e. competitions, long rides with friends, etc. All of these I keep in Connect and Training Center. Nonetheless, these activities take 6 pages and it is painfully to search through them because the search doesn't work well. Connect needs to create folders like the Training Center so everything is organized.

2) Create an IMAP like system for activities so they can be viewed offline. It is great that everything is in the cloud but not everyone has constant internet access. For example, I am away biking for the moment and the apartment doesn't have internet access. To plan my route for the next day, I need to go to the cafe to look at my previous rides with Garmin Connect and then plot them in MapSource. I would much prefer to do this in my apartment.
  • remember though that GTC uses data stored on your computer.
    Connect uses garmin servers.

As one of the people who had data lost and never migrated from Motionbased to connect... beware!

make sure your data is backed up somewhere other than rely on Garmin, who we know are not exactly infallible in the software stakes
