NUVI Ser No and unit ID mismatch

After repair the serial number and the unit id on my NUVI 350 do not match. My GPS is not recognized on the website - it shows as SN
107983315 instead of the actual SN (1CH007893). In addition when I try to update the map using the real SN (1CH007893) it says that "You have selected to download a map for a unit that cannot be detected. Please connect the device to your computer with a USB cable to proceed:" If I try to use the bogus SN (107983315) it tells me the product is already tied to another GPS unit. Now I see both serial numbers registered to my account. I can read the unit id in the GarminDevice.xml file. Has anyopne seen this issue - and if so is there a solution? Thanks

You should see there your old GPS that was sent in to be repaired and the replacement unit. You need to activate the replacement and it should then also deal with your locked maps. If this does not work for you, or you have already done it (or messed it up, whatever) call the Garmin service reps as they cdan help you there.

Been thru all that and more with customer service. Right now the myGarmin site shows that I have three Nuvi 350 GPS devices registared. Only one with the correct Ser No./unit ID because it was never repaired. One has the serial number of the original one that I bought but a unit Id that does not match the number shown and a third serial number that I have never had or bought at any time that has the unit Id that corresponds to the original GPS I bought. This unit was sent to a company that is involved in extended warrenty repairs so Garmin apparently didn't have anything to do with it - they tried for about three weeks to straighten things out so that the life time updates I bought would work all to no avail. They finally gave me the money back for the update subscription. Now that thing is about three years out of date and I have no way of updating it because of the mismatch.
  • The only way to update may then be to buy a brand new version of CNNT but I would do that only upon WRITTEN advice of one of Garmin's tech so you would possibly be able to recoup your money if it did not work. But really, I'd consider buying a newer unit and re-sell this one, as-is, on flea bay.
