My Edge 805 Version 2.20 has been working fine. Now when I try to upload my ride I get this message "UnsupportedDataType Exception: Your device is not supported by this application."

Running IE 9 and Win 7. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Likewise my Edge 500 has been working fine. Now when I try to upload my ride I get the same message -

"UnsupportedDataType Exception: Your device is not supported by this application."

Similarly iam using IE 9 and Win 7

    This is really frustrating!!!! Help!

I am thinking it is the IE9. I did a windows update last week which installed IE 9. I connected my device to 2 other computers, 1 IE7 and 1 IE8 and it works as it should. Going to try and go back to IE8. Hopefully the problem is not caused by the all the other updates that were for Win 7. It was a very big update.

Just spoke with Garmin and he corrected the issue for me. For anyone who has IE 9 and gets this message it is an easy fix.

On the address bar to the right of the magnifying glass is a litte square with a fracture looking line. Click on the box it should change to a blue color. Refresh that page and the device should be recognized. So far so good on mine.

    Dont go to ie10

 I had the same problem  !!!!! I upgraded to ie10 and when I tried to download a workout, I got the same message.(unsupported data type exception - your device is not supported by this application) I decided to restore my PC to the point before I installed ie10 and it now works fine again.

Until Garmin supply an update for ie10 don't bother downloading it...... !;)

    Thanks Waldo,

I just got the "UnsupportedDataTypeException: Your device is not supported by this application" error message after my Edge 800 had been working fine for months.

Your fix worked for me too.

    Cheers. :D
