Is there a better way to plan a route using the 3790t? i know you can use trip planner on the device itself but it's really annoying to use and takes ages to plan a route using it. For some reason when i use it to plan a route i place my first point, then if i want to browse the map and place another point it starts off from where ever i stopped last while using my sat nav. do you know what i meen? is there an easier way of planning routes on the 3790T? have they not even allowed mapsourse yet on this device? i must say i paid alot of money for this sat nav and it's not really supported very well, i like my old street pilot thats years old far better than this 3790T, wish i never bought it!!
  • Have you ever tried to use a trip for navigation? It simply doesn't work, it's just a useless feature, that Garmin is unwilling to correct.

The only way to get multiple points route on 37xx is to use "Where to" multiple times. First time you set destination, then you add VIA points. Algorithm for adding VIA is stupid, it works only if you add VIA in revers order, from farthest to nearest.

You can prepare points for your route in Mapsource and than send them to favorites.

Well i have resorted to using the way point tool in mapsource, then transferring them to my garmin device, they then show up in "favourites", i then use trip planner and use the favourites i just transfered to plan my routes, alot of hassel!!!!!

Why has Mapsource not been properly supported with this device yet? i'll never buy a garmin again if im not able to plan routes properly on my PC then transfer them, i need to be able to do this to avoid low bridges ect!!!

What happened to Garmin making this avalible in the first quater of 2011? 1st quater is up is it not!!!

Ask support. Standard replay is like: we have no plans to do it.

    How to Use Trip Planner

Once I input a route, with multiple stops, in the Trip Planner how do I get it to follow the route. Last time it took me to the first stop but when I tried to leave it keep trying to route me to the same (first) stop. How do I just get to follow the route, hitting each stop, until I reach my destination?

I now see, even though trip planner is on the Nuvi 3790t, which I have, they are selling a disc to do the trip planning with map-source. I guess they have pulled a got'cha on us dumb enough to buy the Nuvi 3790t on their advertising of uploading routes.

Yep....got caught out on the 3790t as well on their advertising of uploading routes. When I complained about it they informed me by e-mail that it would be sorted in a future firmware update.

Well, that's quite a while ago so looks like it will not happen. Really annoyed about it  and the 3790 unit sits in a drawer most of the time while I use my Zumo instead.

Guess I got taken to the cleaners with the 3790lmt as well.

Read that you could do routes on it and was thrilled.

Gave my TomTom 730 away so I could by the 3790.

Now I'm finding out that you can't do routes.

Mapsource doesn't seem to communicate with my Garmin, says the route uploaded or transferred (transfer takes 1 second) but the route is nowhere to be found.

Well, guess Garmin will be on my Do Not Buy List for future purchases.

Anyone know of any other units, Garmin, TomTom, etc that allows you to plan a route properly?

Looking at a Garmin 1450 at BestBuy, and it seemed to allow me to do a route.
