Speed Fluctuations Garmin Edge 500 in Phoenix, AZ

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with speed fluctuations with the Edge 500. I didn't notice these changes until the last few rides. On a ride just a few days ago I noticed the speed fluctuations > 5mph, when I uploaded the ride to garmin connect, I noticed the route displayed was zig-zaged even though the road and my actual route was straight. The route was in Phoenix, AZ No tree or cactus cover just blue sky.. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I attached my route so you can see how it displayed the ride in a zig-zag fashion.
  • That's an interesting route you posted. It actually looks like about four or more separate rides done over a day. Does that sound right? It looks like the route on the E side, which appears to start at the SE corner of the overall route, didn't have a good GPS signal, which is why it looks jagged. Same thing for the N segments, especially the NE segments. It looks like you are riding somewhere, stopping for a while, and when you start again, you are not waiting long enough for a good fix on the GPS satellites.

Is there a way in which to reset or stop the speed surges and route errors on the Garmin Edge 500. This week I plan on riding in a Metric Century and would like to have accurate reporting of the distance and speed over the course. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
