Wordpress widgets?

Hello!

I have a blog that runs on wordpress, it's mostly about mathematics... but I would like to display the length and dates of my last few training runs.

I found a widget that claims to do this... but it's not working... Hence I'm thinking I'll try to set one up myself... but I have no idea how to do this.

I guess I need to work with the RSS feed. Are there any help guides?

There is a widget called "Garmin Connect" that I tested once. Allthough it is very good looking it has a downside that it is quite heavy to load which makes your page appear very slow. Because of this I decided to skip it.

Another option you have is to use a plain and simple rss-feed. Of course, then you'll have to have a gps enabled device because Garmin Connect doesn't show activities in the rss-feed that doesn't have gps data for some strange reason.

I have gps, I'm just concerned that the RSS show my location... I don't want the whole world to know where I run, as I'm a rather small woman who doesn't know kung fu... and who tends to run at night.

Putting data on the web about where and when I can be found with my $200 gps watch ipod etc... seems rather dumb...:p

I think you might be up for a challenge if you want to show you stats but still be anonymous. As far as I understand you have to make your activities public in order for them to show in the rss feed or any other 3rd party applications.

In the end I chosed to keep my activities private just because of the reasons you mentioined. :)
