478 can't acquire satellites, wrong date and time

My 478 can't acquire satellites, and has the wrong date and time.
Is this the internal coin battery that's gone bad?
What does it take to fix this?

Sounds like it. 2 options. First is to have Garmin fix it, pricy but safe.. The second is to fix it yourself, cheap but not for the faint of heart or clumsy.

Tutorial The tutorial is for the 276/376 but is the same for the X78 series as well.

I just tried the coin battery replacement and still no joy ...... waited a week to get that coin battery in with the tangs on it ..... and I'm good with electronics and a soldering iron ....... time to ship to garmin? I did get two of those coin batteries, maybe I'll try the second one before shipping it out .....

Do you have another antenna that you can try?

Try setting the date under "Setup" (Page 89).

Under "Gps" try resetting your location for where you are. (Page 6 and 12).

What was the voltage of the battery you took out?
