I am lost. Where is the official Garmin forum for automotive Garmin use? I get the idea there isn't one.

I think you are correct. I believe these forums are primarily for Garmin fitness devices (Forerunners and Edges), although there are frequently posts from other users, such as handhelds (e.g., Oregon) and automotive devices.
