Garmin 255w preemature shut off

Our Garmin 255w starts up, gives a couple of turns, and then just turns off, in the car, with power.

Any help?

When was the last time you updated your software?

Yes, the unit is registered, also, I have lifetime maps license.

The unit was updated with current maps about 2 months ago. I assume that any other software or firmware would have also been part of that hour and a half process.

I am not sure what any of that has to do with the thing simply shutting down. It is almost two years old, so I wonder about the battery.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
