Free Nuvi updates:-(

I replaced my old garmin with a nice new Nuvi 2360 primarily because of the free updates.
After several hours trying to complete the download I called Garmin & was told it takes a long time. Suggestions were to take the computer to the library or a McDonald's!!! I'm supposed to sit in a McDonalds for hours on end downloading my update. I guess not.
I did try letting it run all evening. By 11:00 it was 3/4 done so I went to bed & let it continue. This AM. there's a screen saying that it ran into an error. My internet connection was still good.
I guess I'm feeling this is one of the biggest come- on shams. If Garmin can't produce a download that works on most computers then send out discs.
I'm ready to switch to Tom-Tom.
BTW, if anyone has found a "fix", please let me know!

Map Updates

I just got a 2360LMT and was setting it up for the first time last night. It took a long time to do the update for the maps. I ended up leaving it on and going to bed....with my fingers crossed. When I woke this morning it and been completed with no problems. The problem I am having though is getting it out of the demonstration mode. I can't even use the gps because of it! I thought maybe the update would help but it hasn't. Ugg
