junction view gone

Recently I purchased a Nuvi 1390t, when I first used it I got the juction views all the time. I then purchased the Nu maps lifetime package and updated my maps and now Junction view no longer works. When you go into the maps page the junction view is not highlighted so you cannot choose it. Also after looking on the net for any info I the looked in the JCV folder on the Nuvi and found I do not have a JCV file but I have got a SUM file in there is this the same thing or something totally different. I have also got in touch with garmin and they say to update the software and re update the maps and this should fix the problem have done this and problem still persists. Does anybody know how I can solve this problem.

What firmware do you have in your 1390T? The latest is v4.90 and one of the issues fixed by it is

"Fixed issue with junction view files not updating properly during a map update."

Use Webupdater to update the unit firmware then reload the maps.

I have updated to 4.90 but this does not seem to solve it

    Did you reload the maps?

Did you download maps directly to your device, or was it downloaded to your PC and then copied to the device?

I read somewhere that the junction view data is not included when downloading directly to PC.

Yes I reloaded the maps directly to the sat nav. In the system folder of the sat nav there is a JCV folder but no JCV file in it only a Sum file, to view the system folder you have to allow hidden files to be viewed

    Hmmm, dunno then.

I updated my recently purchased 1490T to 4.90 firmware and then loaded the CN NA NT 2011.31 map update and I got junction view data.

Edit: You did reboot (no USB cable connected) the 1390T after updating the firmware and before reloading the maps right?

As long as the USB cable is connected (i.e. the unit is in mass storage mode) all you're doing is writing files. The unit must reboot for them to be installed/recognized.

rebooted then reloaded maps but nothing has changed. Just been on a long trip and plenty of opportunities to display junction view but nothing at all. Probably going to replace with new unit but a bit concerned how easy it is to transfer the Nu Maps Lifetime Update to a new device

Not all junctions have a junction view. That said you've said that there's no files in the

    \.System\JCV

folder. I have two files in there

    D1279080A.jcv (48,200KB)
    D1279080A.sum (1KB)

I'm wondering if your nuvi has enough free space for the files. I know that the map file (gmapprom.img) grew in size significantly. I would assume that the map updater would complain if enough space wasn't available but...

I have 279MB of free space on my nuvi because I deleted all unnecessary voice files before doing any map update.

I dont have the D1279080A.jcv (48,200KB) file although i have over 2gb of space avilable also when i try to connect the device to the computer it does not show up so I cant access any files at all now. A green bar continually keeps going across the screen of the sat nav as though it is updating. I,m getting so fed up with it I might just change it to a TOM TOM.
