Auto naming activites

I wrote this in the wrong place I think. (sorry for the double post)

I would love to have a auto-naming of activities.
Instead of a load of 'Untitled'-s can a newly added activity get: [type]-[year]-[month]-[day]_[sequence] e.g: Bike-2011-02-02_01 and the next one Run-2011-02-02_02 and so on.

The feedback has been given here: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?p=76247#post76247
Sorry for my double post.

Why does it not use a course name if you are following that?

That along with date or other options mentioned here would be much better :-)

Additional request: If the activity is very similar to a previous activity. [e.g. a ride or run that I commonly do], it should could be automatically named with the name of the previous activity.

    +1 for auto naming
  • Switch off automatic naming of activity

where can i switch off the automatic naming of activities?

while some might like it I think it's an annoying and unnecessary feature. i anyway have to rename depending which of my tracks i followed during training.

so i would like to have the 'unknown' back to be able to identify new activities at a glance.

Activities seem to be Auto naming themselves in the past few days but the name doesn't carry over to Strava.
Strava still uses it's own naming format.

That is because the activity data is sent to Strava before any processing on the Garmin side.
  • This is sarcasm so don't read this post if you are offended by sarcasm!

I guess now Garmin will have to come up with a way that will let users define the convention of what gets used in the "auto-naming" process to create the names!

Always seemed simpler to me to just go in and type a name. However no loss, as I can still do that.
  • Please let me deactivate this feature! It's autonaming the activities with places that have no sense
  • As mentioned above, just rename your activities like you would have done had this feature never been implemented. I've always renamed my activities, and this change has not affected me or my process.

The only reason it would be worse than the previous behavior would be if you imported activities from the past and wanted to rename them. They are difficult to find in that case.

Renaming is a commong step when you upload or sync...but if you add a feature, try to do something useful
