Nuvi 1450 Forgot the Way to San Jose . . .

I'm sitting here in Canada preparing for a trip. I'll be flying into San Francisco, renting a car, and driving to UC Davis about 90 minutes East of SF.

I decided to program in the location of my hotel in UC Davis before leaving home in Canada so I can simply jump in the rental, connect up my Garmin, and go.

So I opened with "Where To?"

I click "address"

One of the choices is "change country". I click that.

I'm presented with two choices - "Canada" and "United States".

I click United States.

It comes back with "Enter State/Province".

I start spelling "california" but after the "C" it gives me one choice - Connecticut. No California. I click the back arrow and it takes me back to the QWERTY keyboard.

I finish spelling "California" and it returns with "No Matches Found".

Funny thing is I used it in California a month ago . . . in San Jose . . . but since then it has forgotten the way . . . (Cue Dion Warwick . . . )

Any clues on how to do this?

A roundabout way. Check the location on Google Maps. Right click on the destination location and drop a lat/long marker. You'll see a minus sign before the second set of numbers, that means West, the first set is positive, North.

Enter these numbers in the Nuvi, just instead of address, find coordinates. That should also place the point in your favorites.

When you get to CA, just do a Where to? Favorites and select that point.

Always check the route the GPS is taking you on. It may not be the same as the one in Google. Use common sense.
