This is my first GPS unit and I'm not tech-savvy. My nuvi 205W can't acquire satellites. I followed Garmin instructions and went outdoors to an open area. I thought that took care of it. In my car and standing in the driveway, it just keeps searching, and asks "keep searching?" Also, the "Where Am I?" function keeps telling me I'm in Illinois. I'm not sure of much, but I'm sure I'm in Massachusetts. I've set my home address correctly. And, when I press "map", I get all of the U.S., with the car icon in Illinois. Please, what is the fix for all this? :( :confused: :mad:
I believe your 205W needs to be outdoors in plain view of the sky for a longer time. Give it as much as 30 minutes. Normally it should not take that long, butit may have lost its almanac and needs to re-acquire it before giving you a decent position.
Once it has a good fix, you won't need to wait that long anymore.
