Garmın 1490T sometimes doesn't open

Hi Garmin Members and guests,

I have a garmin 1490T device for 2 monts and have a problem.Device is closed normally when I parked (Device asks me wanna off or on by countdown ) .Then the day after when I turn on the device doesnt open and work.

The car charger is normally ( the light is red and works) but nuvi isn't opened, I try to connect the computer via USB port;I cannot see any motion on the screen , for a while randomly I try to open and push the button power ,sometimes nuvi can opened by itself but sometimes never..

Mine is brand new and I had that happen on the first day that I used it.

Like with yours, nothing happened when I plugged it into the computer.

I played around with it and finally got it to turn on, and it has turned off and on ok since.

I did have it freeze up on me once when I was driving. I think I was trying to make it do too many things at once while it was "recalculating", and the recalculation stopped at XX%. I was able to recover from that as well.

What I THINK is the key is to push on the power button and keep it pushed in for about 5 seconds. That seems to act like a "reset" switch. If you have the problem again, I would like you to try that and let me know if that works for you.

DUH! I have answered my own question.

I finally RTFM'd and on page 4 of the manual, it says
"Resetting Your Nuvi - If your nuvi stops functioning, reset your nuvi by pressing and holding the Power Button."
