Making laps or splits

How do I get to add laps or splits to my course? I want to see the sections with my average speed and pace but not sure how to do that.

Also is it right to have my heart rate around 190-200bpm throughout the 3 mile run?

I only just got the Garmin 305 so not sure how it works properly yet. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
  • While you are running, you can press the lap/reset button to manually insert a lap.

You can also program it to automatically insert laps based on distance (e.g., every mile), time, or position. See page 14 of the user manual for instructions on how to do this.

As far as your HR goes, values close to 200 usually indicate a pretty hard effort, but this is a very general statement and I say it with many caveats. To really answer this question, you should provide your age, fitness level, your perceived level of exertion during the run (e.g., were you casually jogging or were you at maximum exertion), and so on. It might also be good to provide a link to your activity to see if it looks normal.

    Thanks.

About the heart rate; I'm 19, my fitness level is ok, and it was a casual jog/quick jog. I did have leg pains so it was a bit slower than normal.

The HR graph looks pretty normal, and you're young, so your HR could easily be that high. It's a little high for a casual run (IMHO), but since the HR graph looks so typical, I think the HR data are correct.

We're all different, so I'd suggest that you use your HR monitor for a while and get familiar with how your body responds to exercise.
