Will it overwrite my SD card?

Hi first time for me to transfer a simple track onto my Dakota 20 ~ when viewing my Southern England / Wales map on SD card on Basecamp I just drew a simple route/track and wanted to transfer it over to my Dakota 20 just to see if I could do it and it worked as I am a complete beginner so could you tell me if I have to just chose 'send to' and choose the device 'icon' on the left hand window or choose 'send to' the SD card or folder beneath it? what I am concerned about is will it overwrite the original map on the SD card or are they 'protected/locked/ ? or can I just click copy and paste? Please could you give me some advice as I am fed up and confused now.
Thanks

1- Always make a backup of your uSD card. I prefer doing it on DVD. That backup will only work on the original uSD card though, but if you overwrite something by mistake, you can fix it!

2- Tracks are stored in the internal memory of the GPS, so that's where you need to send it anyhow.

3- Will it overwrite my SD card. Well it should not as it has a different file name, but you know computers, they will do weird things at times and so far, I've never sent anything to be written on a card with paid maps on it.
