I figured out how to post text in the "Description" field. You cannot do it from the "Activity Edit" screen. I did the following and it worked:

-Go to your "Dashboard"
-Under "Recent Activities" select the activity you want to add a "Description"
-Next to the activity title (at the very top), there is a pencil ("Quick Edit"), click on it and you are able to edit the details in the top section
-Under the "Event Type" there is a box. That box is the "Description" box. Enter your text and click "Finsh"

That should add text into the "Description" section. At least it did for me. Hope it works for you as well. Good luck!

Having the same, "java.lang problem", contacted the garmin helpdesk, three days ago, reply from someone, said they would help my problem, nothing heard in last two days, does anyone find this problem coincides with Garmin announcement about tweaking properties of Calendar section, and plans to add new bits to it??. Will try RADIJO80's fix.

Tried RADIJO80's fix, but no success, as I am trying to enter details of activities when NOT using my Garmin 500, ie Weight training/Swimming, or am I being stoopid and cannot follow RADIJO80's fix??

I´m trying to write a manual training. I have no succes:mad: I think I have tried everything.

Just read a reply from the garmin helpdesk, advised when entering a manual activity, leave the description box, (last data field) empty then hit save, and...............................it works!!. helpdesk advised this is a temp fix and they will be looking into fixing it permanently.
