I know it seems like a lot of threads, but it sure would be extremely helpful if you could organize your forum by device and perhaps major software applications. Most forums I've been on do this and it works out very well. I have a 62st, a Nuvi, and help friends with others. If, for instance, I could go to the GPSmap subforum, I could read others posts and learn a lot of fixes or know I'm not the only one with a particular problem much easier. This would ultimately greatly reduce the number of irate posts that are directed at Garmin support personnel. I think it would ultimately pay for the amount of time it would take to have a Garmin employee work on this for a while.
I've been a Garmin user since GPSmap IIIs were available and use Trimble Navigations survey equipment on a daily basis in my work since 1992. From my experiences over the years and from reading MANY posts on here……organization appears to be a major factor in much of problems plaguing Garmin the last few years. Whether it be organizing Manuals and software better or this forum. My latest manual for my 62st is definitely more vague and harder to follow than manuals from years ago.
I sure don't like seeing this US company deteriorating. I certainly don't remotely claim to understand the ins and outs of a large mapping company, but please contact me if I can be of any help. I would be happy to work as a subcontractor for Garmin if I can help out in any way. It may be good to get the perspective of someone that is just a user....the guys that are buying your products.
I am rooting for you Garmin, but I think you need more productive communication within your organization and better integration between departments. Software and hardware disciplines have always seemed to have a disconnect with each other.
Just my $0.02 from a very loyal Garmin user.
