HELP-Need to transfer info from OLD GPS to NEW

Former Member
Former Member
I bought a Garmin nuvi 260w series 2 years ago and still runs great.
I have hundreds of saved locations on it and on Friday I purchased a new Garmin nuvi 1300. I plan on giving my old 260w away, but I need to transfer all the old saved locations in Favorites, to the New 1300 Garmin.

I've tried putting in SD chips in hope of some option to save it there, but no luck. How do I transfer the saved locations??? I've messed around with Garmin connect and still cant figure it out. I've looked in FAQ and I am still confused.

Can anyone shed some light on my issue and help me???

Thanks
-Jonathan

I contacted Garmin Support and was helped the next day.
Garmin Support is very helpful, quick, and intelligent This should help

"In order to back up your Favorites:

1.Using a USB data cable, plug the device into a computer
2.Double-click the My Computer icon (Mac users can skip this step)
3.Double-click the nuvi drive (Mac users can find this on their desktop)
    4.Double-click the Garmin folder1
    5.Double-click the GPX folder
    6.Copy the current.gpx file
7.Paste this file to another location on your computer
    8.Rename the file current1.gpx

Once you save a copy of the GPX file on your computer, you have successfully backed up the waypoints within your device."

Just swap it out with the other Garmin's .gpx file and you have all the OLD favorites on your NEW Garmin:D
  • The one step Garmin always fail to mention is once the favourites show in your GPS go into the GPX folder and delete the gpx file that either you or Express has put there, normally named temp.gpx file
