I went ahead and tested this some time ago as I could not see why this would not work - even though the GPS stores said you must buy a special adapter.
For anyone else with this question...........
It works just fine.........in fact I have found out the adapters ends are identical.
It would seem an easy way for manufacturers and retailers to make more $.
