Download this to get Google Maps back in Garmin Connect!!

https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/fbeiifjiimghhaijicmdphhpockpbldc

From this website you can download Gfix by Xavier Cany.

For users using the Google Chrome web browser, you will be able to see Google Maps on the Activity 'Details' page.

This functions on Mac and XP computers.

A great first step - hopefully similar solutions will be found for the 'Player', 'Explore' and 'Dashboard' pages in GC.

    IT WORKS! Brilliant.

As a bonus I have now learnt a thing or two about using extensions in Chrome. I have been using Chrome for a little while at work, and for a number or reasons I have to use 'Incognito' mode and have never used extensions before. Other users may know all about this, but I found that the extension works fine in 'normal' mode, but you have to tick the box "allow in incognito" otherwise it won't work in incognito mode. Just click on the wrench at the top right, then tools and extensions. It works fine now.

    Thanks so much for this.
  • Very nice of someone to go to that trouble and I appreciate it (although I don't use Google Chrome).

It doesn't really solve the problem for me, though. I don't use Garmin Connect for me as I have SportTracks for my analysis. I was using Garmin Connect to share my runs with others and this fix would require others to use Google Chrome with the extension.

Hey, maybe its better than IE.

Thanks Garmin for making me switch from a microsoft product to a total Google product, well done! :D

Now I believe Google paid you off, not Microsoft.:p

Thank You - Works perfect. Bing is useless in Sweden, Google is perfect.

This works fine. Even in Canada, Bing doesn't allow to zoom close enough in many areas. Thanks.

    Alternative to Garmin Connect

I'm spreading the word about this site because I think it's a good alternative. It's still a work in progress but I think it's nice. Here is my original text:

All of you who are upset with Garmin Connect's switch to Bing should check out the following site. Membership is free and it works with your Garmin. I've had the best luck exporting my ride data in TCX format from the Garmin Training Center software and then uploading the file to the site, but the site also says it will work directly with your device.

    http://ridewithgps.com

I especially like how the RideWithGPS site will let you calculate your average speed for an arbitrary section of your ride.
