Garmin, your users deserve a response

Dear Garmin,

Your users have spoken with a unified voice, and I think it merits a response from you to address it.

It's only fair that your users know your intentions to either stay the course with Bing or move back to Google maps, or make it a user defined choice. This will allow us to decide whether to stay with you... or move to a competitor. Saying nothing will probably drive more to the latter.

Please acknowledge your users comments.

    wot no change

I have looked at my runs in the new map view . Well it appears I still run on water, The paths in my local park that I can see on any google map ,although there is lots of tree cover can not be seen on any view in bing. Well done what a change it really must of taken ages to get that all done. I just wish i had eye's good enough to make out what you have done because i really am missing all the new detail.
Yes garmin you listened to your user's and i think the only thing you really did was to write a new entry in to your blog.:mad::mad:
  • If your map is not showing the options, look to the top left of the map and click on the double headed arrow in the blue box.

But, at least over here in NZ, it's no better than before. Just the roads view with a few lumps on it for the terrain.

    Thank heavens better options abound!

    Sorry

I just logged in to gc and i now see you have made two changes i can see the first tells me how many miles all garmin users have run and the second how much sweat we have produced. Thank you garmin what would i do without these oh so very useful counters they have added so much more meaning to my run's ,my data and not forgetting map view . I feel like a total fool saying you had done nothing in my previous post. My gc experience is now just so much more thank you, thank you

    once again sorry

Yes your right if i click for a birds eye view i no longer run through the local lake. However the aerial view is still blurred , I can not pan out and in road view the paths shown on google maps still do not appear on bing maps.

PHILIPSHAMBROOK, you keep on repeating that there are alternatives, but for many of us there arent any alternatives, or the alternatives are narrow to selected sports and piles of cr*p when it comes to multilanguage and measurements. I run, I hike for days, I bike, I backcountry skiing, I resort ski, I cross country skiing, I swim, I drive, etc etc. aka Multisport on many levels, and when I return home or to the laptop there is one upload and nothing more. Up until the dissaster BING-swap GC has been the best tools for this, now there is nothing to look at when I return from training/recreation. Garmin has just destroyed my only tool.

I see the map options, e.g., Bird's eye etc, but there is no option for terrain (should there be?) and my map is flat, no signs of terrain at all.

Still no terrain option for me... (I'm in Queens NYC btw..)
  • There's your response.

Must time to move on now.
