What did you do GARMIN!??? I call out to everyone, to post their disappointment here. Let GAMIN know that they have ruined one of the best features of having a garmin watch. I loved to watch where I had been marching or running, but that is ruined now.

WE WANT GOOGLE MAPS BACK!!!

To the developers:
1. Please explain why you choose to ruin the fun of having a garmin watch?
2. Are you even thinking about changing it back? or will we just have to live with it?

    Get rid of Bing!!!!!

Switching from Google maps to Bing: bad move. Really, really bad move! There is virtually no information in the Bing map compared to Google, at least not in my area. And all suppliers of geographical information in my area (such as foot, ski and bike tracks) are using Google maps, so comparison/overlays with my Garmin tracks is no longer possible. Like everybody else on the forum, I contemplate switching to SportTracks for handling my Garmin activities. And I have one less reason for choosing a Garmin device the next time I buy a GPS.

Absolutely! Bing is useless, the images are about 10 years old in my area

Their explanation on the blog just dosen't cut it. Fact is, it's poor. My town is covered in cloud on Bing perfect on Google. Far newer superior picture.

Obviously the decision of a very comfortable Corporate "$$$".

One day you might not be so comfortable in an ever changing world and customer loyalty will not save you.

Really in todays technological world it really isn't rocket science and I am really suprised that you don't have more competitors banging on your door.

1 vote to get rid of BING or at very least make it an option

Funny how no comments are being posted to the blog.
  • I live in the Spanish Basque Country. Aside from the issues reported by other users (zoomed resolution, old or inferior images...), I have the additional problem in that Google uses Basque place names/spellings, more usually found on roadsigns, etc, whereas Bing uses the less-common Spanish names. Admittedly this is more of an inconvenience/annoyance than it is likely to lead to navigational errors (my 705 has Basque placenames on the OSM mapping), but I wanted to add yet another objection to the change to Bing.

I've sacked Garmin Connect and started logging on RidewithGPS, which is a shame as I have a year of data on Connect and I prefer the interface, but unless Garmin allows users to choose their map provider (would be interesting to know how many users would plump for Bing given the choice...), I'll not be back.

Just bought a Garmin 705 and now very annoyed with the Bing maps when uploaded to Garmin Connect. I bought this thinking it was Google maps as I had seen friends links from when google maps were used previously. Bing maps are useless. PLEASE revert back to google maps as this has really spoilt my enthusiasm of using Garmin Connect.
