What did you do GARMIN!??? I call out to everyone, to post their disappointment here. Let GAMIN know that they have ruined one of the best features of having a garmin watch. I loved to watch where I had been marching or running, but that is ruined now.

WE WANT GOOGLE MAPS BACK!!!

To the developers:
1. Please explain why you choose to ruin the fun of having a garmin watch?
2. Are you even thinking about changing it back? or will we just have to live with it?

Bing is no Google Maps - its far inferior.

I 2nd and 3rd the opposition to Bing.

Really how do you feel telling your customers ' transition was made to focus on long-term growth, sustained stability and accessibility' when you actually opted for an inferior product. Let Bing do their R&D on their own test dummies in their labs, not in production with users who have already been used to a far superior and satisfying product. Wow that is Bus 101, no actually its Bus 50 - don't mess with a proven product - thats the sure fire way to alienate and lose your customers.

I travel to Kenya a lot and now all my maps are just a red squigly line on a gray background, and this is in the capital city - what? However running on well marked trails in California wasn't much better so I didn't have to leave the states to know this product was lame - I guess I just have to stick to running on major streets in the US. Very sad.

Hope you listen to all your customers seriously and not try to cloud them with new gimmicks "Additional features that will be introduced in this new release include...' that don't address the basic problem - Bing is a just trash and a failure.

Sorry I can't sing Garmin praises to any of my many new runner friends as Garmin-connect is not what I was said it was - I'd be crazy to recommend it in its current state.

Please listen to your customers and make the change back or give them a choice of opting for Google Maps. That would be very customer-centric and good customer service.

Lose Bing. Give us Google Maps back.

Thank you and sorry to be so long-winded, but it had to be said.

I use to belong to motion based I would love to use it again oh no i can't because garmin took it over then started to rip the guts out of it untill it became an inferior product move on indeed. The watches are good but people on this thread are not disputing that.
When bing maps first started they displayed me running through the lake in my local park ,then there was an update which sorted this.
The maps still had poor detail though then today upload latest map back to running through the lake. how long before they get this right untill they do me and others will keep coming back to vent our frustration at garmin for moving to inferior maps
However by the look of things other gps makes have started to up their game and soon alot of buisness will be moving away from Garmin.

The Bing map for my location is extremely poor. The aerial (it's actually an ancient satellite photo) view disappears when zoomed in to any useful size.

Google maps, in comparison, are excellent for my location.

    Lose the Bing!

    Bring back Google Maps!

Frankly, Bing Maps suck. I get beautiful, detailed shading and contour lines in Google Maps terrain view - very detailed. Bing doesn't provide this. Google Maps have all kinds of trails and features in their maps. Bing doesn't. Bringing up my activity in Garmin Connect is a *crucial* part of my experience. It now sucks with Bing.

How about some sort of an explanation of what is meant by "the long term development of Garmin Connect?" What was wrong with Google Maps that you thought would be fixed by going to Bing?

Again, the mapping in Garmin Connect is a crucial part of the experience. It now sucks.

And ignoring and not communicating with the users unhappy with the switch also sucks.

I have a secret. I love Bing maps. I'm a roadie and find the maps clearer than google, the later of which has a colour scheme that hurts my eyes.

    +1 for bing!

    Last straw

Well the switch to bing maps is the last straw for me. mapmyride has become expensive, slow and not that useful overall. What are other suggestions? I'd be glad to ditch the 705 if there's a good alternative- preferably android based (and using google maps) with decent navigation. (the 705 sucks for navigation as I'm sure you're all aware).

    Last straw for me too!

I am waiting to see the reviews for the Polar RCX5, the new Timex and the Nike+ Tomtom to make the switch! I really had it with Garmin's utter stupidity!

In a few years from now, Garmin will be a case study for Harvard Business Review on how poor management can blow a perfectly good business to pieces.

As I said in a previous post, Garmin needs to relocate from the mid-west and embrace the technology mecca of the silicon valley ...

    Please Garmin, innovate!!!
