What did you do GARMIN!??? I call out to everyone, to post their disappointment here. Let GAMIN know that they have ruined one of the best features of having a garmin watch. I loved to watch where I had been marching or running, but that is ruined now.

WE WANT GOOGLE MAPS BACK!!!

To the developers:
1. Please explain why you choose to ruin the fun of having a garmin watch?
2. Are you even thinking about changing it back? or will we just have to live with it?

    Bing Maps are terrible

My vote also! Bing maps are really terrible. Having the terrain maps are really important with my training.

Agree - Bing is really a big step back for Garmin.
After 1.5 years of nothing but extreme satisfaction with my Garmin and Garmin Connect you take a step backwards. Bing map detail is poor and in Santa Cruz County does not show the full extent of public lands.
Give users the option of Bing or Google maps and LET YOUR CUSTOMERS DECIDE.

    +1 for me
  • one more vote from me.

i enjoy running on holiday and google maps had relatively high resolution maps for most places where i used my watch.

although bing is fine for large cities and seemingly for most of the uk, i can barely make out the town in guatemala where i used my watch let alone the streets and terrain. i could clearly view route detail on google maps.

its unbelievable that garmin would switch to an inferior map provider.

Alternative to Garmin Connect which uses Google and works with your Garmin device

All of you who are upset with Garmin Connect's switch to Bing should check out the following site. Membership is free and it works with your Garmin. I've had the best luck exporting my ride data in TCX format from the Garmin Training Center software and then uploading the file to the site, but the site also says it will work directly with your device.

    http://ridewithgps.com

I especially like how the RideWithGPS site will let you calculate your average speed for an arbitrary section of your ride.

Someone, some saint, some person looking out for us (and sadly Garmin too) posted a google extension that replaces this Bing .... with google. Go to google chrome extensions and search for "gfix" (only for google chrome, which is the best browser out now IMHO)

It just works. Only in details, not in the dashboard.

Amazing that someone with a business background at Garmin compromised their product quality for some mystery reason.

This is probably indicative of the company culture unfortunately.

An announcement and explanation before hand would made all OK, but garmin didn't have the class because they knew we wouldn't like it... "us" being the people that spent 300 to 800 dollars for their GPS that included garmin connect access.
