Change to Bing maps disappointing

Former Member
Former Member
Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

Just want to add that we don't like the BING map integration either. Garmin, listen to your customers!

    Returns to google maps please

 One of the reasons I bought a Garmin two weeks ago, was the chance to see my activities on Google Maps, and 4 days after, I find with the change to Bing.

I think the number of complaints in this forum is enough reason to return to Google Maps.

Excuse me if my english is not so good.

    what else can be said?

Can't add to what's already been said. Big thumbs down to the change and an bigger thumbs down for not offering a CHOICE. What ever happended to USER preferences? What ever happened to the democratization of technology?

I cannot for the life of me understand why a company such as Garmin would change for the worse. In the Philippines, Garmin Connect has become useless with the shift to Bing maps. The Garmin brand has dipped several notches for me.
  • Hello? Garmin are you there?

    Garmin?
By now you must know that you have made a very unpopular move.

Would you please let us know where you stand on this issue?

Please don't just sit back hoping it will blow over.

A company this large should have already responded to the outcry.

    Give us back Google Maps!

This is nonsense using Bing instead of Google Maps...
We lost so much confort and quality. It is really a shame Garmin goes this way.
I think I will start looking for another kind of server if this feature is not set back to Google Maps.

    Please, hear user's voices !

    Give back google maps, please

I miss google maps in my garming connect activities, the new map does not work well, the details are poor, I really like garming connect but now it does not work to give track to my routes of training.

    choose map service

Why not make use of both map services and let the user himself choose in configuration which one he will use to display maps?! it would prefer google!
