Change to Bing maps disappointing

Former Member
Former Member
Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

    Google is back!

On the Dashboard and Activity Details pages users may now choose either Google or Bing for their map provider.

Thank you for having listened, Garmin! :)

I cant change, im stuck with Bing. Have no option to change between the two. It says that its on the Dashboard and Activities, but im afraid its not.

    For Firefox user,

    Install Greasemonkey

Then install Garmin Connect Google Maps script

After you done that, take off your pants and show your butt to Microsoft. Let them know how sucks Bing is.

Have also tried the above to no avail either. The tick highlights its to use google maps but still using Bing with useless results.
  • I switched to Google maps when the system was changed but as of 1st December I have no maps at all, neither Google nor Bing, for todays workout or any historical ones.

    Pfffffft

I think we may all have to move back to Bing pretty soon. Google will be charging for sites that go over 25,000 map hits per day through the Google Maps API from 1st January 2012. This may be reason why we are all having difficulties today. See https://forums.garmin.com/showpost.php?p=115109&postcount=7
