Change to Bing maps disappointing

Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

    Get google maps back.

I just wrote tech-support, asking how I can get area view in my maps.
Maybe if we all did, they would get tired of answering questions and give us google maps back.

Voice your discontent ">here">here and ">here">here
  • Garmin, are you listening?

    Don't need a survey...

Just go to google (or to BING) and search: "garmin connect bing" to realize the disappointment to bing!!!

    Please return to google maps.
    Thanks

GFix in Chrome to correct the Bing

I just found out that you can use google chrome and have the google maps appear in garmin connect. Just need an extension in chrome:

Oh for those that hate the Bing maps in GC search for "GFix" in Chrome's extensions library. This does a marvellous job of switching maps back to Google on the default screen."

Why did Garmin switch to bing? Now there are ugly bing maps in my blog. Please Garmin, go to use googlemaps again.

    Use Chrome

I'm not sure if this has been posted - rather than trawl through all the pages i just hit quick reply to an early post. I was really disappointed with the switch to Bing (and posted my feelings back in December), but found out kind of by accident this evening that if you use Connect in Google Chrome with Gfix, it will default to Google maps. Perfect! The very first map that you see by default on your dashboard will be a useless Bing map, but as soon as you select a particular activity, it will display a lovely, detailed Google map, and will continue to do so from that point on until you sign out.
