Change to Bing maps disappointing

Hello,

I'm disappointed in the switch to Bing maps. The "far" view in both map and ariel is much more distorted than the previous version with google maps. It also seems that the terrain view has disappeared. I assume this was done as a cost saving measure, but from a user perspective, it's a loss of functionality.

However, I still love my garmin as a training tool, and has been helpful in my quest for my first full marathon in early december.

  • Lots of talk about RideWithGPS.com here...I gave it a go but I don't see much in the way of good running support. Seems more cycling oriented. I can't find any average pace and can't even find any detailed lap data. Pretty poor unless I'm missing something.
  • Agreement on Bing maps being inferior

If we could vote could we bring Google Maps back?
  • Please change back to google maps !

One vote from me for Google maps!
  • Bing maps are not good

    Another here,
I do not understand why Garmin has changed to Bing maps. The quality is horrible.
Can we have the Google maps back?
  • Options for runners

My primary activity is cycling and my initial test of Ride with GPS was good - they indicate gradient which was not displayed in GC for example.

Several other alternatives to GC have been mentioned, there is a related thread here in the Garmin Forum, and on Facebook you will see related posts with more suggestions in two groups:
    Garmin Connect and
Garmin Connect users who want Google Maps back

    Hope this helps!;)

I kinda figure they new they were doing this 6 months in advance.

They do the change in novemeber as people are not using thier GPS units as much and will not get the complaints as bad as if they had done it in the summer.

Clearing browser cache should fix this.

Using Chrome/Mac and the maps spill over the border and cover about 1/2 the page.

Was that after clearing your browser cache? Looks like you have an old style sheet.
