2 runs in one file... How to separate two activities???

Hi everybody,

I have a forerunner 405XT and I did two runs last week without reseting my chrono (I know it is kind of...) resulting in the two runs in one activity into GC.

Do you know if it is possible to split those 2 activities?

Regards.

I have exactly the same problem. I can't believe something so simple hasn't been thought of. PLEASE can something be done about it?!

Me too. I just asked Garmin. Hopefully they will have a workaround

    same problem here.

    addtnl question.
i actually saw, that my garmin still had the last run "running", but i did't know, how to reset this thing.
Help on this question would also be appreciated.
  • In general you can't easily edit the files to split them, but if you have the tcx files and know what you are doing, you could probably split them. I use Ascent (Mac-only), and I think this program might be able to split the activity and/or help with editing the tcx files, so if you have a Mac you might want to look into that program.

TopoFusion will let you cut tcx and gpx tracks into parts and keep all the data intact and save the parts as separate rides

Also you can recombine separate parts into a new ride but it will just be a gpx file, no fitness data.

The FREE DEMO program has no time limit and has all the functions operational. There are limits on the number of files you can compare at any one time and some of the map tiles are blanked out.

I think this would be great too. If I do a ride/run session it would be useful to split it into the 2 activities.

Why don't you just stop and save the ride, then start the run as a new activity?

Otherwise, the FR 305 and 310 have a multisport mode that will allow you to transition between these modes simply by pressing the lap button.
  • I have a Forerunner 305. Everything worked great for a few weeks, now every time I do a run in the morning, shut off the Garmin, and do another run in the afternoon it just adds to the first workout instead of making two separate workouts. Am I doing something wrong or is my Forerunner 305 broken?

After your morning run you need to press stop and then hold the lap/reset button to reset the timer. Your morning run will be saved to history and then your afternoon run will start fresh as a separate activity.

With Garmin devices typically just shutting them off and then turning them back on will start a new lap but will not end the activity and start a new one.
