Download new maps. CD, SD or download??

Hi all,

I am new to all this and I have the following queries;

I am an Australian but I bought a nuvi 1200 in America. Now I am home in Australia again and I want to download the Australian map but I don't know which one to get. Download, SD card or DVD.

Can I save the default US map to an SD card then buy the Australian SD card or CD? I am having difficulty working out what is the standard process and what size SD card I would need to do this if it is possible.

Ideally I would have the Australian map on my Garmin's memory and the US map on a card of some type. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have a nuvi 3790T bought with european mapping.

I bought the N american mapping DVD. After many many attempts and many more emails to support I eventually got the maps to stick to a SD card in the nuvi. ( I used a 4GB card from my phone... plenty of room)

The same download problems with the chicago city maps. ( not worth the money as will not guide you by public transport unless it has a gps lock! Not very useful in an hotel room or on the bus/train!)

A developer in one of these forums told me there was bug where the whole file is not downloaded. Support did not know!

search the forums and be prepared to do some file editing.
