To me it's the same with my nuvi 1690.
Just buy it worked great. But at the time, began to restart, or shut down.
I've tried everything. Software Update, update maps, soft reset ... and remains unchanged.
Sometimes error log showed me "unnable to connect, register at mygarmin.com" Although it was registered!
I think, that I bought the best GPS .... But I have repented.
I bought a new Nuvi 2555LMT this weekend. Updated all of the software on Sunday. I used it for a few days with no problems. Yesterday when I tried to setup planned routes for an upcoming vacation it would randomly shutdown. I would turn it back on but eventually it would randomly shut off again (usually in the middle of inputting a complex route, ARRRGGGH!!!). I thought that I was accidentally hitting the power button, but the same thing happened after I placed it on a flat surface to ensure that I couldn't accidentally hit the button. I also checked my settings to ensure that the auto-power off feature was turned off & I checked to make sure that the unit was fully charged.
Now my NUVI 500 just shows Garmin for 7 second then flashes a black screen and then Garmin again and repeat. Garmin indicated to do a hard reset. Ha Favorites were still there. Installed new map 2013.10 seemed to work for a little while then auto shut off and then the Garmin screen after about an hour. :(
Emails to Garmin Support. Of course I won't be able o call until Friday..
Same problem here. Just bought a 2555lmt and in a 10 hour drive once it shot off and I had to turn it back on. The second time it restated it self.
The hole time it was pluged into the car.
Have Firmware 2.89.00 Software ver 6.0
Has anyone been able to solve this problem? Do I need to send my unit back to Garmin?
