Foretrex 301 does not start after upload from MapSource

Hi,

I have a foretrex 301. When I download the data from to MapSource there is no problem. When I then upload the same data back again it says that the upload was successful. I then unplug and switch on again. It then tries to load and then eventually just switches off. I then have to reset the data for it to load again.

If I do the upload and then copy the temp.gpx file to the route. It loads but most of the routes are truncated.

Both the MapSource and foretrex are on the current version.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi, this happened to me just now. My 301 has been working fine for 6 months with my acer pc and windows vista. Today i uploaded and downloaded files from garminconnect using my emachines netbook and windows xp. then it happened, the unit switches off after trying to load.

I loaded a file twice because i also found it was "truncated", only part of the file seems to have loaded. The 'switching off' happened after i loaded the same file from garmin connect to my foretrex for the second time.

I am just glad i was able to do a reset by pressing power and enter/mark simultaneously, and choosing erase all data. All my data was erased but at least the foretrex doesnt turn itself off anymore. I will use my foretrex later and see how it is.

in contrast my old forerunner 205 is still working flawlessly. Are the newer garmins less reliable?
