Cannot upload to Garmin Connect - recent problem

Former Member
For the last three or four days, I cannot seem to upload to Garmin Connect. I have tried both IE and Firefox. I've cleared all history, caches, etc. I've reset the trusted site information to add *.garmin.com to IE's trusted sites. I've made sure that the plugins are installed by going to the garmin dashboard to make sure that they can communicate with my Edge 705. All to no avail.

All I get is the attached screen shot. I've made no modifications to my system (other than the obligatory windows updates) and have successfully uploaded about 5 days ago. At this point, I'm out of ideas.
  • As noted in other posts, try clearing your browser cache and/or history

    Just an FYI ............

When you "clear cache", be sure that "temporary internet files" is checked.

    OK now

Yes, clearing the cache has worked for me, thanks.

But clearly this was related to whatever updates Garmin made - would have been nice to have some instruction or warning.

    same trouble, with Edge 305

I have also been unable to upload rides to Garmin Connect, from my Edge 305, having tried on Oct. 9 and several times since then (the last time I tried to upload before Oct. 9 was Oct. 3, and that was successful). I've tried to upload on 3 different computers, and had the same non-response reported by all the other users who've posted here.

Clearing cache was totally useless...HOWEVER....Go into IE and in the settings choose to reset it to factory default settings. When you bring IE back up it should work. THEN go into Firefox and/or Chrome. If still blank try refreshing. This fix worked on both my computers. Took two hours on the phone with software guru to find this. I sure hope ...it helps them and everyone else. Just checked and it is working on my Chrome now too.

    sorted

Hi all, i managed to get it fixed too. I only ever use firefox, cleared the cache and restarted firefox. nothing happened. Tried again and hit refresh a few times on the upload page and finally the options appeared on the upload page. However, i was asked to do a Adobe Flash update, so this may have an effect?

    upload problem...unable on 705

I've had no problem uploading my daily activity both on Garmin Connect and Training Center up to 10/9/2010.
Today I couldn't upload my bike ride to either one. It looks just like the other .tcx files, I can see and select it to upload manually but get error messages saying "unable, keep trying".
I can read the activity info on the 705 just fine.

How about an answer from Garmin? All these people can't be having cache problems on the same few days this started cropping up.

    Message from Garmin Support

OK, here are the steps that Garmin support told me to use. They didn't work for me, but they may work for some of you. The more I look at this, the more I believe that it has to be a problem with the jsp stuff - either the engine or the security model, or something.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
I will be happy to assist you with your data transfer issues today, Jeff.

We have had a compatibility issue with IE8 that is causing this issue, however, we do have a fix for this dilemma.

    On your Browser

    Select Tools

    Select Internet Options

    Select Compatibility

    Select Compatible

Your Edge 705 should now be able to communicate without issue.

    Please respond for further assistance.
