Forerunner 405: can't upload to Garmin Connect

I recently had my Forerunner 405 refurbished. I took it for a first run yesterday, paired it with ANT Agent etc.
I've set it to upload to Garmin Connect automatically, but though ANT Agent reports that files have been uploaded successfully, none appear in Garmin Connect. If I try to upload from Garmin Connect, I get a message that there are no new workouts to upload. I've tried removing the device and pairing again. I also am challenged repeatedly to authorise ANT Agent.

Should add that forcing send fails too

Call Garmin customer support. I had a similar problem and they were able to fix it over the phone.
