My rarely used 255 has gone suddenly from working perfectly to not working at all. When I plug in the power in the car, it goes directly to the Garmin screen and then a note appears at the bottom "Loading maps." And it stays that way. I left it plugged in all night to see if it would move on, but no luck. It also won't switch off normally; moving the switch to the left simply switches it off and on again; holding the switch to the left for some 15 or 20 seconds changes nothing.
When I plug it in to the PC, one of two things happens - either nothing at all - not detected - or it is detected, but still doesn't do anything. It stays on a screen with the Garmin logo and an image of a computer.
It has not been left in the sun, has not been left plugged in when not in use, and has been used for a total of maybe 25 - 30 hours at the most since I bought it this summer.
Does anybody have any suggestions, short of taking it back? Thanks!
