Downloading tracks from Vista HCX

I have a couple of memorable hike tracklogs on my Vista that I would like to save on my computer before removing them from the Vista. The manual makes no mention of this and when I connect the Vista to my computer I cannot look at the map files let alone download them. Mapsource recognizes the device but says there are no maps, waypoints, routes on it. There are 4 options that it looks for and it says there are none. I downloaded Basecamp which appears to be simply a less functional version of Mapsource, completely useless.

Appreciate any help.
  • You need to "save" the tracks in the device and then connect the device to the PC. Go to Mapsource and click "Transfer" -> "Receive from device". It takes 4-5 seconds for the device to be recognised and then you can transfer the tracks to the PC.
