UK Maps

Hi - I'm new to Garmin and I'm happy with my new 1490T. It came preinstalled with entire Europe maps, including UK. I have no use for the Europe maps and wondered if the City Navigator map UK and Ireland had more detail than the UK map that came with the unit?
If so, and I bought it (either download of on micro SD) would I be able to install it and then delete all the European maps?

Same Issue

I'm new to this forum, and expect to have my new 1690 in my hand tomorrow.
I would also like to know.... Can I delete most of the European maps, and just keep the UK?
I believe being able to delete my unwanted maps will improve performance of the unit.

Sorted.

Sorted. When I updated my Europe map. I was given the option to just install the UK maps. Total capacity is 3.62gb. I have used 530mb with 3.10gb free.
