Oregon 450 issues - Is it me or the unit?

having happily lived with various etrex vistas, I have now purchased an Oregon 450 and am really struggling to get to grips with various aspects that seemed straightforward on my other units.
The latest concerns my attempt to declutter routes by turning off the waypoints and pins. I can easily do this on my Vista and the options seem very similar on both units, but on the Oregon they won't go away. What am I doing wrong?
See attached screen prints for illustration..
It would be really useful if Garmin would print a helpful manual that gave clear definitions on settings and how they affected the product. For example, on Zoom Settings what is the "Land Cover" option - it does not even appear in the Manual. Similarly, what is the difference between selecting the interfaces "Garmin Spanner" and NMEA In/Out?

Lastly, I cannot transfer any tracks or routes to Mapsource - except the "current track" even though the Manual says I can by using the "Receive from Device" icon on the toolbar. Instead I have to go the long winded route of drilling down through various folders to find the GPX folder and import them that way.

Is it me?

Use Basecamp instead will solve the problem.

    High Slavanova
Basecamp may solve the problem so far as downloading routes/tracks is concerned, but it does not address the issue that Garmin say you can do it in Mapsource.

Obviously there are a number of other questions that I raised that do not appear to have been picked up by anyone. What does that mean? I see that I have had quite a lot of "views" but no-one responds. Does that mean they do not have the answers and are just as confused as me,or cannot be bothered to respond.

I would have hoped that Garmin may have picked up on the issues and replied but, alas, that would not appear to be the case.....

@Rayguyver. a couple of week ago, I gave a ring to Garmin explaning the same problem with Oregon 450t, the only thing that they reply me is to use the Basecamp, which my old aching PC need to force to handle the said SW.

Neither my CompeGPS software cannot handle the said unit.
