Hi,
I've been using a GPSMap60C for years and, almost every feature that I ever thought of has been added and made into the GPSMap62S.
I love :D my little GPSMap62S and, with some of the awesome suggestions already from various threads which could be added via software updates (i.e. switchable 100 tile Custom Maps), here's my idea for a hardware update combining the best features of Garmin input.
A touchscreen GPSMap! The screen from a Dakota series would suit perfectly.
The button to software control on the GPSMap6x series is great (squeaky on my new one, but great nonetheless) - but adding a touchscreen for screen scrolling and for some menu selection(s) would be really handy. The screen would need a locking feature, maybe from a slide/flip switch on the face, or via a button press combination.
After using a friends Oregon's touchscreen interface side-by-side with my new GPSMap62S, the idea of the ultimate (for me) little hand-held unit came to me. It's much easier to screen scroll on a touch screen, but buttons for other input is easier for driving, gloves and stumbling through uneven terrain.
Anyway, that's my idea for another model (a GPSMap64S).
:o
