IE8 crashes when activities 'details' is pressed

I happen to have an Edge 500, but I do not believe that could possibly be my problem of IE8 crashing. I access Garmin.com, then Connect, and then some activities are seen that were uploaded from another computer. When I press 'details' for any of the activities, IE8 says it must shut down now and it does when I depress 'don't send error.'

I was able to download Training Center to my PC and upload activities to my PC from the 500 unit to look at. I don't think this IE8 crashing is a new problem. I've seen hints of this problem in the forums, but no resolutions. What is it that 'details' is invoking? What kind of support software is expected to be on my PC. Please help? If I cannot get this problem solved, I'm returning the unit for a full refund.
  • Of course it's not your Edge causing this.Try viewing Connect in compatibility view. Click the button to the right of the address bar or click tools, then compatibility view. If still no joy, call Garmin support for some other suggestions.

    re: ie8 crash

I hate to say it, but the computer in question had IE6 on it. Updated to IE8 and seems to be doing better. Perhaps compatibility view will be needed.

    Thanks,
  • If you were running IE6, then I would also be concerned that Windows security updates were not being done. Make sure you're running Windows XP service pack 3 with all the security updates. Microsoft no longer supports anything older than service pack 3.
