205w suddenly dead in the water

Ginger here.

Treated it well as was Christmas present from daughter. Used it 4 or 5 times. Last time was this week. Screen went black and gps suddenly went dead. Could not turn off, turn on, reset, with or without auto charger. Does this mean I need new battery? New fuse? Or is it a goner? Thanks so much.

Try connecting to a different 12v socket in your car (or in another car). If it is working, check your car's fuses, as one of them is probably bad. If it doesn't work, check the connecting cord for a fuse, probably in the connector that goes in the 12v socket. CHeck that fuse or replace it with a good one (I always check those with a continuity tester).

To clarify what happened, the gps was being used (searching for location) and it froze. After being frozen for a minute or so, the unit was turned off. It now cannot be turned back on, nor does the reset button do anything. It had plenty of battery power remaining when it froze.

Had a similar problem with my Zumo. I had to remove & re-install the battery, then it unfroze itself and has worked fine ever since.
