Just purchased a 255W on eBay. The unit is in very good condition. I registered it and updated the software. The maps are NA 2010. Satellite acquisition is fairly fast and seems very accurate. The unit knows where I am! However, when I attempt to enter an address, the block for the "state" is simply missing. "Spell the town" and "search all towns" are there, but won't work because it somehow doesn't know what state to search. I have reset the unit, but the problem is still there. Would upgrading to the NA 2011 map solve the problem? It's a bit of a waste of money if it doesn't. Any help would be appreciated.
Solved the problem. I THOUGHT I had done a hard reset on the 255W, but didn't. Doing one brought several options including the state information. I almost swore off eBay. Thank heaven I fixed it!
