Google Earth to Garmin 450t

Hello.

Every fall I go to BC for some lake fishing. Some of the lakes I visit are miles from known roads. The unnamed logging roads can be seen from Goggle Earth. I've created paths on Goggle earth for the lakes I go to and to ones I would like to. What is the easiest way to transfer those paths onto a Garmin 450t? I'm overwhelmed by all the GPS technology and mapping techniques.

I've tried Garmin custom maps but I couldn't see them on the 450t. I saw a kmz file when I opened up the Garmin directory on my computer. I never saw the map appear on the Garmin itself.

I've also tried transferring the paths to Basecamp. It looks like Basecamp only accepts certain types of files. I always get the "no groundoverlays" error.

Can someone help me? I'm tearing out my hair.

Thanks for your time.

Jim

Only had my garmin 1690 for 2 days, so my answer may be suspect. I tried to load a route from google onto my gps, but failed. My garmin communicator is ok.
I then tried mapquest, and that worked.
With your gps connected to the pc, find your map in mapquest, then top left click send to, and choose GPS.
