3790T Problems Updating Software

Former Member
Former Member
Hi

When I connect the 3790T to the computer Dashboard or WebUpdater let me know that there are software updates available.

When I run the software update it tells me that it was successful.

When I go back into Dashboard or WebUpdater I get the same message that there are software updates available. Round and Round I go.

Can anyone help please ?
  • Hi,
i had to do it 3 times. I think there were 3 different Update for me to do,
since the three took different times to load and now it says i am up to date .

PS- i had to restart my device manually though, it didn't restart on its own after disconnecting from my Mac

    Cheers

I had the same problem on my Mac... the next day hooked it up and it STILL said there was an update.

It doesn't reboot as it seems to suggest it will...

I'm having the same problem with my 3760T. The webupdater tells me I should get 2.50 (currently have 2.20). It downloads, installs, then says to disconnect and allow device to restart. It doesn't. I turn it on. No change. Web updater tells me I haven't gotten the update, and the maintenance screen on the device confirms it's still running 2.20. Fail.

(I'm having a similar issue with a map update I'm supposed to get... it doesn't seem to unpack on device turn-on).

Obviously all 37xx have same issue - mine 3760T cannot be updated neither through Mac nor PC... Absolutely the same strange "behaviour" as yours.

    Nuvi 3760T

I'm having the same issues with my Nuvi 3760T.

I try installing the Software Update and it never 'takes'. Goes through the process, but after the device restart the old software version (2.20) is still installed. No matter how many times i run the installer it never installs.

I also tried to update my maps. Same issue.

I'm running Apple Mac OSX 10.6.4 with Safari 5.0.1 and the latest version of the Communicator Plugin.

I submitted a support ticket....we'll see what they say.

i figured out how to get the software update to 'stick'.

if you do the updater and then instead of doing a proper eject (safe), you simply pull the USB cable and then do a reboot of the device.

seems that when the 3760 is being ejected properly it isn't writing the files properly to the device...hard eject seems to stop this from happening.

Sorry, it doesn't work with me. Proper or hard eject - no update is possible.

New unit (today) 3790T webupdater no restart

Same problem. Loaded S/w immediately after registering. Update successful, but 3790T did not restart.

What is the credibility of the instruction that says "Disconnect your device from your computer and let it restart. Do not turn it on or off until it returns to the main screen, because that may cause your device to become inoperable. "

Obviously its going to have be turned on to follow up, but I wonder if there is a "safe" way to prevent the "inoperable" condition. Sure ain't operable now.
  • Same problem here. It says:

We have sent the software update to your device. Restart your device to complete the update.

    1. Eject your Garmin GPS.
    .
    .
    .

...and finally when I connect the GPS after turning it off, and back on, I get the message:

Your Garmin GPS has not completed its upgrade. Please follow the instructions above.

I tried it twice but I did not succeed and I always get the same message. I cannot see that the device tries to do an upgrade during the boot process either. It loads the maps and starts as usual and I am still on the same version. These things should be tested thoroughly before releasing an upgrade!

On my Mac, I am having the same problem with updating the system software on my 3790T, though I have not tried to do any map updates.
