Windows 7 64 bit and Internet Explorer 8 issues

I am running Windows 7 and using Internet Explorer 8 and for the last few days have been unable to login to Garmin Connect. I entered my username and password but received a "security" error message. I could see that I was logged in but couldn't access my activities or dashboard. I tried all the usual workarounds of adding Garmin Connect to my trusted sites etc. but nothing worked. I installed Moxilla Firefox and was able to access Garmin Connect fine with that, so gathered it was an IE issue.

Even though this is specifically for Windows Vista it works for Windows 7 too.
  • Lisa I experienced this and a couple things helped - adding the Garmin pages in compatibility view and then ultimately had to reset all the security settings, which erased all cookies. the Garmin support person said "maybe a cookie went bad."

    I was told at one point to use Mozilla as well, but that had limitations so I'm happily using IE8 and everything is now I can log in and see my data using IE.
  • you need to add all the garmin web pages to the trusted sites options/security/trusted sites.

    had the same problem using windows 7 64bit with ie8

    just stay with firefox it is a much better browser anyway

    IE8 Browser issues

    I have tried all the advice given on this forum wrt Garmin Connect, from adding to trusted sites, clearing cookies etc, but am having problems navigating the activities. The browser continually hangs and I have to use task manager to end task. I have tried on 2 different machines both running IE8 and the same problem occurs. Any advice would be appreciated as I really like the site but currently is unusable.

    I have Win7 IE8 64Bit machine with no issue at all

    IE Version 8.0.7601.17514 256-bit

    Make sure you have the latest updates on ..

    Windows 7 / Garmin Connect Issues

    I have been having the same issues as Lisa mentioned above. And like Derrick, I've tried everything suggested and still can't get GC to work on my Windows 7 computer. I can log into it on my other computer running XP (although I no longer seem to have the "share" function) and it works. Any other suggestions? :confused:

    Same problem

    I'm with the same problem....at my home computer it works but in my professional computer (win 7 64 bits) it doesn't works..I think the GC doesn't support 64 bits...I can't do uploads and can't explore other activities from other users.

    Does anyone know why I can't access the course history in "Explore". it just shows that is "loading" but never populates anything. Thanks

    You should be accessing garmin.com in "compatibility view." In IE go to Tools, Compatibility View settings, add garmin.com. Or, while on Garmin Connect, go to Tools "Compatibility View."
