Importing Polar HRM Data or Polar Diary into Connect

Former Member

I would like to combine training diary from my polar HRM and connect for a new 705

I have a Polar HRM with speed, cadence and alt.
I have stored all my previous rides into the polar diary software, plus other cross trainning etc.
I would like to know if and how this data can be loaded into connect to maintain one training diary

Can anyone help?

Reason is that I want to save my existing training history and also I will more than likely use the Polar unit for spare bike on wind trainer or spin session for intervals and cross training etc

Thanks in advance
  • This is exactly what I need. I have used a garmin 205 but logged heart rate data through my Polar watch on the polar fitness website for the last 3 years or so. ideally I'd like to switch to Garmin and buy the new Edge 800 but I'd prefer not to 'lose' my old Polar data. Someone must know of a way?
  • If there is a way to do this, it would be great. I had a Polar and I have all my data on the polarpersonaltrainer web site.
I hope someone can help us.

I while ago I experimented with Ascent as I too have over a decade of Polar data and wanted to keep it current with the Garmin data plus GC is so much better than the Polar PP5 (for simplicity) or PersonalTrainer website.

Running Ascent on my Mac I could import the Polar HRM files and then export them as TCX files to upload to Garmin. It worked ok, but from memory I think cadence data on Polar was interpreted as Power Meter on Garmin and there were some mapping issues.

It might also depend on the Polar unit you are using, I have the RS800cx.

    Good luck
  • Tks, but my OS is microsoft (win7). Anyway, thanks for you answer.
  • Polar F6 data

My issue is a little different. The data I have uploaded to Polar does not include GPS data, cadence or Power, just training sessions (time, HR,calories, type of excersise, etc). If this could be uploaded to Garmin Connect it 'd give a total picture of my progress etc. I have been able to download the Polar data to my windows desktop as .XML files.

Perhaps Garmin Connect will develop further to be able to do this?
  • I have uploaded a lot of old data prom my polar 610 into Ascent (mac only)

you do get the hr plot as well as splits,
but no distance nor information you have added from within the polar software.

In ascent ( nor connect) you cannot add distance to splits for non gps activities.
( this is also a pain when adding gym non-gps activities recorded on my garmin watch.)

I can remember in the past that I did find some german windoze software which did convert polar data to a gps track (using a default distance and location for each split)
