The person who is viewing via Facebook has the ability to click on "view in metric" on the top right corner of the GC screen

I signed out of GC and then I viewed my activity via Facebook to try this. If a person is not signed in, then instead of the "settings" option, there is a toggle between "view metric" and "view statute".

You will have to tell your friends to click on "view metric".

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for answers. I am not using Facebook, just RSS publishing. The moment i press the RSS symbol, new window opens and in that window everything is changes from metric to miles and foot. I can not find any "view in metric" there.
  • Yes Garmin, please program the GC site to look for the local settings in the used browser. That way, it is alway in the right mode; km or miles.

When you're logged in and you've clicked on the view in metric link, the address of the page at the top of the browser will change slightly to indicate that it is displying the units in metric. Copy that address and then send it as a link to Facebook etc. The parameters in the address will tell the Garmin connect page to display all units in metric for users that aren't logged in or don't have a account. The downside is that the address is really long instead of being the Garmin address then the identifying 8 digit number of the activity, so the full address might get split in transit.

For example below is a link to a run I did, it should display in metric, even if you aren't logged in. Works on a pc in Firefox and IE. Unfortunately it reverts to miles in Chrome.

Hey, I have done my research on how to change the units from miles to kilometres and didn't find anything on the matter, until I came across this piece of information. Although I do not understand it completely. Could you please clarify this i.e Is this Garmin Connect?, What page on the website do you start on?, Where is the button 'Under Account' or 'Setting'?
    Thanks

    Go to http://connect.garmin.com/
In the top right corner, it should have your username. So click on your name, then choose settings. (or go to http://connect.garmin.com/settings )
Then it has the option to set measurement units to metric.
