nuvi 255W cant create gps.bin

i bought a nuvi 255W with USA and Canadá maps. I need to make the tracks of my city because it was not in the maps. After 4 days googling, i read about "hidden tracklog activation" for my model but its not working. After activate successfully "start record" the hidden tracklog, should write a file gps.bin and this is not happening.

Other users have told me it works with the models 2x5W.

I think GARMIN after some update, cancel this feature.

Anyone have the same problem? GRAMIN change it?

Here are some screenshots of the feature:

Wy i have this record button?
I need to record the tracks at intervals of 1 second.
Thanks in advance

I've done a lot of research on this issue. It looks like any 255W with HWID 1091 will allow the "easter egg" to turn on 1 second interval tracking, but does NOT create the gps.bin file.

I'm still searching to see if this is something in the firmware that can be restored doing a downgrade, or if it's permanent. I really have no clue.

I bought my 255W expressly for the purpose of creating tracklogs. Without this feature it's basically useless to me.

I can't imagine why Garmin would remove this feature.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255 with HWID 1091, and I can activate Logging via thet 'Easter Egg' hidden Menu, and Start Logging, but no gps.bin File in any Folder.

I sent e-mail to Garmin Support and this the reply that I received back from them:-

Seems to be a HWID issue, as I also bought a Garmin 265W from Amazon.com USA at same time, and this does record a gps.bin file under a date/time log File, in 'debug' folder in 'Root'.

I get the impression that because this 'Easter Egg' hidden menu perhaps does not 'officially' exist, they, Garmin, don't want to admit you can 'activate' that 'Debug' mode, let alone explain why that Hardware ID does not record a gps.bin file.

I have seen some forums offering F/W mods, but none for such HWID 1071 either(Even if it existed for HWID 1071, I would not want to attempt such, as it would no doubt invalidate the Warranty)!
